Compliance Consulting Specialist

The Compliance Consulting Specialist is responsible for supporting MZQ’s compliance services group and clients by assisting with answering direct client consulting questions, providing research and written communication support to the compliance services team, and supporting MZQ’s ERISA Wrap plan development process, among other duties. This person will be required to read and analyze regulations and laws and to disseminate the information This position requires strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills. A commitment to teamwork, an eye for detail, and the ability manage time, handle multiple priorities and work independently are also essential. The Compliance Consulting Specialist position is a full-time 40 hours per week salaried and reports directly to the Manager of Compliance Services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and respond to compliance consulting questions to ensure timely customer service is provided and escalate questions as appropriate
  • Respond to basic compliance questions for internal staff as needed and escalate questions as appropriate
  • Research compliance issues as needed
  • Assist in drafting internal and external compliance communications including newsletters, slide decks and other materials
  • Keep abreast of all current and proposed ERISA and ACA requirements, as well as State, and Federal regulations related to maintaining a compliance employee benefit plan
  • Disseminates information on regulatory matters
  • Prepare ERISA Wrap Plan documents, including review of review of client-provided plan data, drafting Wrap documents, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations for various benefit programs
  • Support other aspects of MZQs compliance services practice as needed
  • Use innovative and effective methodologies to support compliance efforts
  • Look for improvements to compliance services processes and procedures to support efficiency and growth
  • Other office duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Business, Economics, Political Science; Government or similar
  • Prior HR/Benefits experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of federal laws and regulations and government report preparation
  • Working knowledge of government reporting websites
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experienced and skilled in computer systems in a windows-based environment

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.  

Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week, following an agreed-upon schedule.
