Compliance Coordinator

The Compliance Coordinator is an entry level position that will support our Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act compliance team.  We are looking for a person who has an interest in improving access to mental health and substance use disorder care for people nationwide.  The ideal team member will is someone who wants to continuously learn, and who enjoy staking a complex subject, digging into the details, and breaking it down into simple, approachable, and obtainable steps. This position provides administrative assistance to the VP of Compliance and the Compliance team.  Additionally, it supports MZQ’s clients by assisting with the development of Non-Quantitative Treatment Limitation Analyses, required by the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, for group health plan clients.  

This position requires superior communication abilities, impeccable organizational skills, strong non-fictional writing abilities, and strong interpersonal skills. A commitment to teamwork, an eye for detail, the ability manage time, handle multiple priorities, and work independently are also essential.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Provideadministrative support to the VP of Compliance and the Compliance team to helpsupport MZQ’s clients

·        Work withclients and MZQ compliance specialists to gather necessary health plan data

·        Review andassess health plan documents, materials, and data to identify treatment limitsand assess health plan practices

·        Assist withmultiple writing projects, including drafting sections of documents, editing,proof-reading, and formatting documents

·        Assist withbuilding PowerPoint presentation slides

·        Provide supportto clients through phone calls, email communications, and online meetings.

·        Researchcompliance issues as needed

·        Support other aspects of MZQs compliance servicespractice as needed

·        Look for improvements to compliance services processesand procedures to support efficiency and growth

·        Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

·        BA/BS Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, English, History, Paralegal, Communications, or a similar field

·        Ambitious, continuous learner, enjoys complex subjects and/or projects

·        Excellent organizational skills

·        Extremely strong attention to detail

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills and etiquette

·        Demonstrated ability to articulate clearly and effectively

·        Ability to produce excellent work products, accurately and efficiently

·        Strong interpersonal skills

·        Ability to work closely in a collaborative team environment and truly enjoys helping others

·        Experienced and skilled in computer systems in a windows-based environment

·        Service orientation with a sense of urgency and responsiveness

·        Eager to learn and contribute to the success of the organization

·        Works diligently and well under deadline pressures

·        Projects maturity and professionalism

·        Working knowledge of federal laws and regulations and government report preparation a plus

·        Working knowledge of government reporting websites a plus

·        Prior HR/Benefits experience a plus

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This is a hybrid remote and in office position. Our office is in Pikesville, Maryland.  This position reports directly to the Vice President of Compliance.  This job operates in a professional office environment, whether in person or remotely. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.


Expected Hours of Work:

Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week, following an agreed-upon schedule.  



Minimal travel is required.
