MHPAEA Compliance Consulting Specialist

Do you have an interest in healthcare policy, love to help people and enjoy writing and analysis?  Then MZQ Consulting, LLC has the job for you!  Our firm is helping employers and group health plans comply with the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act by analyzing their health insurance coverage and preparing detailed analytic reports newly required by federal law.  We need some new team members to help us with report writing and related tasks, so that our clients all keep their mental health care and substance use disorder benefits on track!  The job requires at least a BA in political science, government, public policy, English, communications, economics, or a related field.  A law degree or advanced degree in public policy is a plus, but not required.  Strong writing, research, and analytic skills, as well as attention detail are a must.  For consideration, please send your resume to careers@mzqconsulting.com.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients and MZQ account managers to gather necessary health plan data.
  • Review and assess health plan documents and data to identify treatment limits and assess health plan practices.
  • Serve as a primary drafter of MHPAEA NQTL comparative analytical reports.
  • Answer MHPAEA questions for internal staff as needed and escalate questions as appropriate
  • Research compliance issues as needed
  • Support other aspects of MZQs compliance services practice as needed
  • Use innovative and effective methodologies to support compliance efforts
  • Look for improvements to compliance services processes and procedures to support efficiency and growth
  • Other office duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Business, Economics, Political Science; Government or similar
  • Prior HR/Benefits experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of federal laws and regulations and government report preparation
  • Working knowledge of government reporting websites
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Attention to detail

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experienced and skilled in computer systems in a windows-based environment

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.  

Expected Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week, following an agreed-upon schedule.
